Warsaw-based PFR Ventures invests 47M in four new Polish early-stage VC funds: Learn more – Silicon Canals

Warsaw-based PFR Ventures, Poland’s Development Financial Institution, which provides capital to venture capital and private equity funds, announced on Monday that it has invested in 4 new early-stage VC funds.

The funds include — 24Ventures, Digital Ocean Ventures Starter, Hard2beat, and Tar Heel Capital Pathfinder.

The total capitalization of new funds exceeds PLN 250M (approximately €58.4M), and the contribution of PFR Ventures is approximately PLN 200 million (€46.7M).

Investment in new VC funds is carried out under the European Funds for a Modern Economy (FENG) program, the largest national program supporting innovations in the European Union.

“Since launching our first investment program in 2018, our goal has been to facilitate access to capital for innovative Polish businesses indirectly. This is achieved by partnering with the best local and global management teams, including emerging managers. The first four funds to receive new EU capital are led by people with experience in venture capital investments and developing tech startups. They were selected from nearly 100 offers from management teams.” said Maciej Ćwikiewicz, President of the Board at PFR Ventures.

“We always set a high bar, even for new teams, with a strong focus on reputational aspects. We also expect to announce more funds that will receive our funding in the latter part of this year,” added Ćwikiewicz.
